Up until September 30th 2013, seasoned travellers will be able to vote in the British Travel Awards (BTA). Visitors to the site can decide which companies they believe have given the best experience in a variety of holiday categories from holidays, to individual locations to method of transport.
The British Travel Award is a prestigious title that any holiday company, like Newmarket Holidays, who won the Best Coach Holiday Operator Award in 2011 can proudly display in their office or on their website. Many well-known brands and media outlets are affiliated with the process, and as a result winners of a particular category can see that their company will gain even greater prestige. However, the BTA are not tied to stakeholders or any one particular travel publication. Because of this, there is not a panel of travel experts behind the scenes guiding the choices of each category to a particular vested interest. All results are natural and come from the votes of actual holidaymakers.
The process is quick and easy, taking no more than 30 minutes to complete, including the BTA’s TravelVision Survey. This survey provides information on the demographics of the awards, and gives a clear indication that the voters are seasoned holidaymakers. With two-thirds of voters aged over fifty, the results show that travel companies can reach those with a higher income and more freedom by taking part in the BTA.
There are several categories to choose from, covering companies who specialise in particular destinations or a particular form of transport. Voters on the British Travel Awards website will be able to pick and choose which categories to vote in and they can log as many times as they need to before the end of September if they feel they need to alter their vote.
On the British Travel Awards website, potential voters can view the lists of previous winners in order to quickly establish which category their particular favourite might be in. Newmarket Holidays, who won the Best Tour Operator to Italy Award in 2012 for example, can clearly be seen. This aids not only in the speed with which voters can complete the survey, but also provides a good reference point for picking a new company to engage with when booking a future holiday.
